Notice of Voluntary Water Rationing
Newport Municipal Utility District (“District”) is implementing their Drought Contingency Plan for VOLUNTARY Water Conservation. State law requires that the District implement its Drought Plan when certain triggering conditions have been met. Due to the current weather conditions we are experiencing in our area the District has met such criteria. The District is now requesting all of its customers to participate in the District’s voluntary water conservation efforts.
The District is implementing Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency Plan effective June 23, 2022. The District requests that all water consumers restrict any “non-essential” outdoor usage to the following:
(1) Restricted Days Use – IF YOUR ADDRESS ENDS WITH AN EVEN NUMBER, YOU SHOULD WATER OUTDOORS ONLY ON MONDAY AND THURSDAY. IF YOUR ADDRESS ENDS WITH AN ODD NUMBER, YOU SHOULD WATER ONLY ON TUESDAY AND FRIDAY.
(2) Restricted Hours of Use – PLEASE WATER OUTDOORS ONLY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 5:00 AM AND 10:00 AM AND BETWEEN 6:00 PM AND 12:00 AM (MIDNIGHT) ON THE DESIGNATED DAYS.
(3) Splash Pad Use – THE SPALSH PAD AT PORT O CALL WILL BE CLOSED EFFECTIVE JUNE 23, 2022. RESIDENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN IT WILL REOPEN.
Although compliance with the Drought Plan during this phase is voluntary, The Board of Directors (“the Board”) urges everyone to participate so that more restrictive measures are not necessary. The District will inform you when conditions no longer require participation in the Drought Plan.
The Board appreciates any assistance its customers can give about locating leaks or line breaks. Please contact the District’s operator at 281-324-9803 if you see standing or flowing water. This could indicate a water leak that needs to be repaired as soon as possible.
Please log on to the District’s website to sign up for text, and email alerts for up-to-date information at www.NEWPORTMUDTX.ORG.
Thank you for your cooperation.
